What is Baptism?
Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others you have personally trusted Jesus for your salvation. Jesus was baptized when He was on the earth, and we do this to follow His example. When Christ-followers are baptized, they are submerged under water to identify with the death and burial of Jesus and raised out of the water to identify with His resurrection.
Baptism is a public declaration of your personal commitment to follow Jesus. You are saying to everyone, "I am a Christ-follower."
Matthew 28:19
Who is it for?
Baptism is for anyone who personally made a commitment to follow Jesus as Leader and Forgiver.
Romans 10:9-10
From the very beginning, people were baptized when they turned from their own way of living (repentance) and decided to live Jesus' way.
Acts 2:38,41
How will I be baptized?
You will be placed under the water and immediately raised up out of the water. This is the way Jesus was baptized.
Matthew 3:16
Immersion is how believers were always baptized in the New Testament.
Acts 8:38-39
